A Utah Railway coal train ascends the steep grade of the former Denver & Rio Grande Western main as it heads through the Price River Canyon a few miles west of Castle Gate, Utah on January 31, 2008. Leading this 100+ car train are four MPI MK50-3s, and five additional diesels are in the consist about 2/3 from the head end. The lead unit is painted in the orange and black scheme of parent Genesee & Wyoming, Inc., which acquired the Utah Railway in 2002. This photo was taken from the shoulder of US Route 6, which provides a spectacular view of the snow-covered Wasatch Mountains.
