Highball Medina. That’s Medina Siding in Hondo Texas. It is named for Medina County. Medina is a new siding, from mp 258 to mp 255: at 15000 feet, it can accommodated the very long trains UP is partial to these days. The conductor of the UP train in the siding is looking at the through track that is occupied by a BNSF train operating on trackage rights. Five miles to the west is Hondo Siding on the west side of the city of the same name: to the east is Dunlay Siding, in the town of the same name.

The Maximillian sunflowers next to the BNSF grain train are almost done for the year, but flanking the UP train are large sunflowers that are raised to attract doves.
