Ex-Texas and Pacific 2-10-4 “Texas Type” engine No. 610 blasts through Orange, VA on an Alexandria-Charlottesville Southern Railway excursion on July 22, 1978. The Southern Railway leased the 610 for excursion service 1977-1981. The railway decided the locomotive couldn't produce enough speed for their needs, and then started restoring Chesapeake and Ohio 2-8-4 No. 2716 as a replacement. Since 1982 No. 610 has remained on static display at the Texas State Railroad’s Hall of Giants in Palestine.
