An eastbound stone train rolls through the siding at Weimar Texas in mid April 2020.

Weimar TX was established in 1873 in anticipation of the Galveston, Harrisburg & San Antonio Railroad building through the site. The town was originally called Jackson, after D.W. Jackson who had donated land for the town site and railroad right of way. Jackson was a friend of Thomas Price, who also owned land and was widely traveled. Price had fond memories of Weimar, Germany and the townsfolk renamed the town after the city in Germany. Today, it is estimated that about 2200 people live in the city, that remains a major agricultural center as well as metal works, meat processing and light manufacturing.
