On May 15, 2015 Teresa and I spent an hour at the crossing of the Kansas City Southern and Union Pacific at Sallisaw, Oklahoma. The UP line was previously the Missouri Pacific, which the UP acquired in 1982. First up was a south bound KCS manifest train with ES44ACs No. 4694 and 4688 painted in the striking “Southern Belle” scheme. A few minutes later an east bound UP coal train appeared with General Electric C44/60AC No. 6919 leading, and a patched ex-Southern Pacific C44AC No. 6209 trailing. After getting these shots we moved on to other locations on the KCS.
