The Texas, Gonzales & Northern Railway is switching customers in Gonzales TX. Today, GP40 # 201, as 15 cars in tow for the chicken feed plants. The TG&N is 12.3 miles long running from the interchange with the UP in Harwood to Gonzales. In Harwood there are about 67 miles of storage and logistic park tracks. Originally, the Gonzales Branch Railway was chartered in 1881.

Gonzales is known as the “Lexington of Texas” because the first skirmish of the Texas Revolution was fought here. The Mexican Government had given a small canon to the settlers to help ward off Indian attacks. When they tried to reclaim it, the Mexican Army was told to “Come and Take It”. They tried and failed. The new GP40 honor that with the canon and phrase on the cabs of the locomotives.

The TG&N came into existence in 1982, making 2022 it’s fortieth year.
