The Rio Grande is running swiftly as a result of favorable rains up stream. Here, on the border between Laredo TX and Nuevo Laredo, Tamp the normally docile river is full of mud from eroding banks. A KCS train is just about to the gates marking the border between Mexico and The United States. The crew will stop and clear customs before proceeding through town to the KCS yard.
The International Bridge, according to the bridgehunter website, consists of two Pratt Through Truss Spans and four Pratt Deck Truss Spans for at total of 1084 feet. It was constructed in 1910 by the American Bridge Company. Like other International bridges. It is easy to find the actual international border. Just look at the paint! The bridge at Laredo operates on four hour turns – four hours north and then four hours south.
Laredo, founded in1755, with a population of over 236,000, is the largest Inland Port in the US.
