A late running Amtrak Train #2, The Sunset Limited rolls through McQueeney Tx. The spur running to the left is used by a local to serve the CMC Steel Mill.

McQueeney is an unincorporated place in Guadalupe County. Founded by German settlers at about 1870, it became a stop of the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railroad. Originally called HILDA, a local businessman renamed the place McQueeney after a railroad superintendent. Today,it has a population of about 2400 folks. Lake McQueeney is a popular river retreat.
